ACSIS Season 1 results

The season 1 of the 2010/2011 ACSIS season finished with a bang last Saturday for us, our 19U Basketball boys was able to retain the title that they won in the previous season 2 of 2009/2010. We defeated Australian International School by a score of 47 - 37. It was a job well done by the boys and the coach; Mr. Andrew Tan. The win was made sweeter for the fact that we lost to AIS in the preliminaries.

The season 2 will be starting soon with our first game on the 16th Nov. We would see if we can make it a hat-tricks of title. It would be a fine parting gift to Irvan and gang who started the ball rolling.

The 16U football team A and B have also finished their season but with different outcome. The A team after starting the season with 3 wins out of 3, could not keep up with the form and we ended up 5th in Div 1. At least we know that we are capable of playing the big boys. The B team; comprising of mainly the Grade 8's did very well in Div 3. They lost only 1 game to finish top of the table. The future does look good for our football team.

Our 14u netball team will be playing for the 3rd / 4th placing in their division, a good results given the fact that many of the girls are new to the game. We will keep pushing hard for results.

Although being only 4 years old, SJII has done reasonably well in the ACSIS scene. With the 19U basketball title, we have won a total of four titles. thank you for your support.

ACSIS 2010/2011 season 1

Hi all,

it has been awhile since I posted. We are now into the 5th week of term and Season 1 of the ACSIS 2010/2011 has begun. We are involved in Basketball (19U and 16U boys), Volleyball (19U boys), Football (19U, 16U boys and 19U girls). All the teams have started on their respective Leagues and we are doing pretty fine.

Volleyball, played 2 and won both of them. We were Champion for Div 2 last year and for the current season, we have moved up one Division. Hopefully, the boys can be in the running for the top prize this season as well.

Football; 19U boys. We have two teams playing, A team in Div 2 and B team in Div 3. The A team has won 1 and lost 1 so far and the B team has drawn their first game.

Football; 16U boys. Similar to the seniors, we have the A team playing in Div 1 and the B team in Div 3. Both the teams are doing very well at the moment. Both the teams are 2 for 2 at the moment.

The games are all coming hard and fast and would appreciate if there are more supporters coming to cheer the team on.

I would like to thank Mr. and Mrs Cheah and Mr. Neubronner for taking time to support the football teams.

Tennis Success

Last Saturday, three of our teams (14U boys, 16U boys, 16U girls) played in the annual ACSIS tennis tournament and gained valuble experience. At the end, our 14U boys managed a second placing in the plate division. Well-done too all players as well the parents volunteers (Sumati, Mrs Tan and Dr. Lim) and teacher (Emma) who chaperoned the players.

In the National Schools 19U tournament, our girls have played two games and at the momment is played 2, won 1(v Anderson JC) and lost 1 (v ACJC). They next play Pioneer JC tomorrow. Our Boys' team have also played 2, lost 1 (v ACS (Independent)) and the game against National JC is suspended due to some technically that NJC is claiming against us. They next play CJC on Wednesday.

We are very gald to be invited to play in the tournament and would take away with us all the experience that is presented to us but it appeared that some teams take winning and losing so much more important than us. Teams; just keep on playing and enjoy the game.

Sporting Achievement - Month of April

How time has gone by, we are now in the month of April and at the tail end of ACSIS season 3.

For season 3, our netball teams (19U and 16U) and the soccer teams (14U boys and girls) are involved.

The Netball girls despite playing against bigger and more experience teams have done well in their respective division. The 19U team came in 4th and the 16U girls did better by finishing second, being edged out by AISS. Miss Ladd, the girls and the coach have all put in alot of hardwork to get the team so far. WELL DONE GIRLS!!!!

The 14U girls soccer team is learning along the way and they won their first game last week and they will only get better. The 14U boys are playing in the Grand Final tonight against UWC B and despite missing two of our better players, Diego and Sergio Moreno, the boys should do well and hopefully bring back the winner's medal.

At the same time, we are the first International School to be involved in the Singapore Schools A division Tennis Tournament. We will be up against more experience teams but I am sure the team will grow form the experience, especially the younger players.

Despite being less than 4 years old, I think we have done well so far in terms of being competitive in the sporting scene amongst the International Schools. Although there are hiccups along the way, the three of us, Jess, Rowdie and myself will continue to attempt to expose our students to as many competitve opportunites as possible.

The month of February and March has been good for SJII's sporting teams. Our14U boys soccer team has gone 4 for 4 in the current ACSIS league with wins over CIS A, UWC B, OFS B and AIS B. The top scorer at the mommentis Edward Tan with 6 goals. The eam will be playing its final league game on MOnday, 22th March against Tanglin Trust School.

ON the 13th March, four of our shuttlers took part in the ACSIS individual badminton tournament and at the end of it, Ryan Lin finished top in the 16U boys individual event while Tan Shu Yin came in first in the 19U girls individual event. Jonas and Yudi wasnt amongst the medals but they came in fifth in the 19U doubles event. Well done to all of them.

At the momment, our 16U and 19U Netball teams are playing in the ACSIS league. The senior girls is currently 2 for 4, while the junior girls are 3 for 4. Both teams have certainly come a long way.

WE, at SJII are slowly but surely getting there with the bigger INternational Schools interms of sporting achievement. With the staff, students and the parents support, I am sure we will achieve more in the months to come.

ACSIS Success

It has been a good week for our Basketball and Volleyball Teams.

After a not so ideal start to the season where we lost 3 games in a row, our 19U team managed to make it to the Finals playoff last Saturday where they faced SAS, which we have lost twice to. It was a fantastic game where our boys managed to tie the game int he last quater after being behind in the previous 3 through a Irvan's 3 pointer. In overtime, our boys grew stronger and managed to emerge winner by a score of 59-52.

Our 14U Basketball team is also doing well in our division. We have now won 4 games in a row, with those results we should be able to qualify for the semi-finals.

Our 16U Volleyball team has also done us proud, they have now won 2 in a row. With 4 games to be played this week, I am confident that they would do well in all of them.

ACSIS Games

AT the momment, our 19U and 16U basketball teams are involve in the respective season 2 leagues. Both teams have done well so far with the 19U playing against Waseda Senior High school for a place in the Finals playoff this Saturday. Our very new 14U team has been making good progress in the Div 3 league, winning all 4 of their games so far. It is quite a accomplishment as many of the players are new to competitive Basketball and we also have two girls; Shenna Tan and Kaitlin Yeap in the team.

Our 16U Volleyball team has played two games so far and their records is play 2 won 1 and lost 1.

Both our 19U Tennis are involve in their respective ACSIS one day tournament this Saturday (23 Jan). The girls will be playing at Singapore American School while the boys will be playing at United World College (Dover). The respective games will start at 0800 hrs. All students and parents are strongly encouraged to be at the venue to support the teams.

The league for other games are coming up soon, so interested players please look out for tryouts dates on the activity notice boards.

Activites 2010

After a wait of 2 weeks, the 2010 activites is finally on the way. All students need to participate in at least ONE activity and the idea is to be involve in an activity that will challenge you. Please remember that attendance is compulasory and a note from your parent or guardian is neccessary if you are going to miss the activity and that it has to be shown to the teacher before the start of the activity.

Students who miss consecutive sessions in the first two weeks of activities will have their names struck off the roster.

Any parents who would like to be involve in any of the activity, please feel free to drop me an emailat justin.toh@sji-international.com.sg

Have a good 2010!!!
