2009

Hi, it has been a short while since I have written. It is good to be back in school after a well deserved break.

To start, there has been some changes in the PE department; Miss Jasper gone over to head the Elementaty school and Miss Jessica Ladd and Mr. Rowdie has joined us .

Despite all the uncertainty that the world is facing, I strongly believe that 2009 will be a fantastic year for all of us here in SJII.

The activity programme will start on the week of 19 Jan 2009, the students are in the mist of confirming their choices.

A point to note for activites, all absence from the activity day would have to be accompanied by a note form a parent or guardian in the homework diary and to be acknowledge by the teacher before the start of the activity. Failure to do so will be considered as truancy.

As again, looking forward to a wonderful year.

U14 Internatinal Schools Soccer League

We are placed in the 1st to 4th playoff grouping after the preliminaries group games. Our last group game ended 4 - 3 against ISS and with other results that gone our way, we were in the playoffs with OFS, CIS and German International School.

We played our first game yesterday aginst CIS and came off with a 5 - 0 win. It was the best game the boys have played so far. They supported each other very well and you could say all the work that we have put in during training is finally paying off.

The goals were scored by Bryan Neubronner, three infact and one each by Ewan Mok and Nicholas Choong.

Our next game will be on the 20th Nov on our ground against OFS whom we lost 2-3 the last round. Do come and support the team.

U14 International Schools Soccer League

SJI International Played against Australian International School's B Team on the 21 Oct 2008 and came off with a 6 - 0 win.

The game started with us dictating the tempo of the match but similar to our last two games, we were finding difficulties in putting the ball into the net. The chances were abundant, they were either saved by the outstanding AIS goalkeeper or our players just put them wide. The breakthrough finally came in the last 10 minutes of the first half with Bryan Neubronner scoring our first goal. The first half ended with us having more chances but not adding to the goal telly.

As with the previous games, our team has the majority of the game but we find it difficult to finish team off. The second half against AIS was the same. With the minutes ticking away, both teams were tiring. Finally, we are able to add goals through Bryan, Wayne Lim, Ewan x 2 and Jared Chua. We won the game as well as adding to our goal difference which might be crucial as we are fighting to finish in the top two of the group with Chatsworth and Overseas Family Schools.

After the lastest game, we are second behind Chatsworth on goal difference. Our top scorer so far is Bryan Neubronner with 5 goals in total. The rest of the scorers are Thomas Cheong and Ewan Mok with 3 goals, Wayne Lim and Ali Jummabhoy with 2 each and Jared Chua with 1.

Our last game in the group stage will be on this coming Tuesday, the 28 Oct at 1630 against Internaitonal Schools of Singapore at SJII. Do come and support the team.

U14 International Schools Soccer League

We played our best game to date with a 6 - o win over Tanglin Trust International School. The boys did fantastically in their play. Although the TTS boys were smaller in size than us, the team did well in their passing and off the ball running.

The first half started well for us with many of our attacks happening down our right wing. We had many goal scoring chances but did not make use of them, the break through finally came when Wayne Lim scored with a header from a well floated in corner from Bryan Neubronner. We added two more goals from Thomas Cheong and Ewan Mok during the first half.

The second half started in the same manner as how the first half ended with us creating the better chances but again failing to convert them. As time ticked on and the TTS boys tiring, we added three more goals through Bryan Neubronner and Ali Jumabhoy (2) to wrap up the game.

Our final group game will be on the 21 Oct when we travel to Australian International School. We will be attempting to finish either top or second in the group. See you then.

U14 International Soccer League

The second game was played on the 23 Sept 2008 against OFS. The game satrted brightly for us with many chances that we failed to take. Finally, we made a breakthrough through Thomas Cheong.

Due to our inexperience, we gave away an easy goal immediately. The half finished all squared at 1 - 1.

We took the lead again in the seond half, again through a good finish by Thomas Cheong. Again, through a mixed up, we conceded a soft equaliser.

The rest of the game went on with us asking alot of questions but not getting the reply. Unfortunately, we let in a goal against the run of play.

The game ended 3 - 2 to OFS.

The boys were dishearted after the game but it was a lesson well learnt.

The next game will be on the 3 Oct at SJII, kickoff at 1630 hrs against TTS. Come support us!!!!!
